I say that because there are so many different ways to mark you bible and to get the most out of you bible highlighting experience so that you can have the best bible study possible. With that being said we turn to today’s review of a pencil I picked up recently the Pentel Twist- Erase III!

Here are the specs:

Lead is .5mm (ideal for bible marking)

Extra Erasers (ideal especially as this one is does no damage to the pages of your bible/book)

Solid Pencil Tip (Haven t had one break on me so far!)

Writing Quality (writes like a pencil should no issues with lead breaking on me underlines very nicely)

2 Piece Construction (easy to refill lead and replace erasers)

Comfort grip (Rubbery grip nothing to write home about but stays in hand)

So let us break the Pentel Twist Erase Mechanical Pencil down further shall we. The first reason one would take a look at this one is because it has a jumbo eraser that is replaceable. Often when we are marking our favorite books or bible or even taking notes for that matter we use and abuse that little eraser until there is nothing left! Well this is not the case with this one here as its a large pro-tractable eraser and is easy to replace with new ones in case this one runs out on you. The comfort grip isn’t bad either. It allows for extensive writing and note taking without causing any pain or problems. While writing out a study the other day I found that this pencil didn’t bother me to use and didn’t break the leads while writing rather quickly. With this pencil I noticed that it writes really smooth too. Not quite pen smooth but smooth! (Here are some reviews from the Office Max Website)

Pentel Twist Erase III

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.]

I found a really great video review on the Pentel Twist Erase III pencil as well. Some of the things that it points out are as follows:

Available in 7 different colors

3 different lead types (.5mm, .7mm, .9mm)

Performance is sleek but not super smooth

Out performs the silhouette pencil as the Pentel Twist Erase does not smudge

The grip is about average

Ratcheting up the eraser is really easy as well you just have to twist the top and viola you got yourself some more eraser to correct those mistakes. Pentel Twist Erase III the one I purchased was in a 4 pack with .5mm lead and 2 extra erasers ( extra erasers on the 3 pack). Most of the reviews I came across were from students who had primarily nothing bad to say about the pencil as they use it for extensive note taking/writing etc.

I found if you are writing symbols when you are writing in the bible this pencil does a really good job of not tearing the pages or anything like that when we are making curves etc. Overall I would rate this pencil really well for jotting some notes in your bible as well as for underlining. You really can’t beat the eraser on this pencil either.

So when it comes to bible marking and bible highlighting I thought I would come back with a vengeance! So I have been doing a lot of bible marking and marking in books lately (which if you look back on some of my previous bible marking reviews I used to be totally against this) and I needed a pencil that was lead based and was rocking a fine enough point that it would not be real thick. I knew that from taking a bible course before that you need at least a .5mm.

So I came across a discounted (thank you local Shopping Center) pack of two Bic AI Mechanical Pencils. This pack came with an extra leads packet as well as some extra erasers! Well that is just for starters, let’s really break this thing down.

Lets talk about comfort shall we. The pencils are very comfortable to use and write with much better than say those boxes we tend to buy with like the 15 plus pencils and the “comfort grip” design which is code for prepare for finger blisters! Now what really struck me about this particular set of mechanical pencils was the 2 different ways to advance the lead. One way of advancing the lead is to click the end (typical), but you can also advance the lead by shaking (which gives me an excuse to annoy people) and you supposedly can just start writing but I have not quite got that down yet. Speaking of flaws with the Bic AI Mechanical Pencil is that when you are on your last piece of lead or your piece is short and the next one has not engaged the mechanism, your lead tip becomes kinda soft and starts to write terribly. To fix this issue I just advanced it out and moved or to the next lead or just stuck in the new lead. So you will want to have some extra lead on hand or in your pencil to avoid this problem.

Let’s get down to the visuals here as you can get from the picture this pencil is shiny and comes in red and blue (not sure if they have other colors my store only had these. It is big and looks professional. When I say big I mean like a nice pencil big not like a marker big you follow? So the bottom line here is that its a eye catching mechanical pencil. The pencil is light was should be the case. The overall feel of the rubber grip is a slightly bulbous contour and a smooth surface apart from one grooved line running through it kinda of like a really fast car but you know a mechanical pencil! I find that this rubber grip works well for me but some reviewers begged to differ some people like something that fits and grips while some just like something that is not a hard plastic or just metal. To me its simple you just want to be able to grip it comfortably and the Bic Ai Mechanical Pencil does just that.

Here is a closer look at the Bic Ai, as you can see it is a rather attractive mechanical pencil. I wanted to take this time to really hammer home the lead advancing mechanism of this mechanical pencil as for some of you this could make it or break it for you.Just want to recap you have three ways to advance the lead

The push top ratchet advance mechanism

Simply Shaking the pencil to advance the lead

auto-advancing which happens when no lead is exposed while writing

Let’s take these one at a time. When you push the top ratchet mechanism it feels good does not slip to much out at once and gives you a real positive click assuring you its working properly. The shaker mechanism works great also, and is not to sensitive so you wont find yourself shaking your arm off for some lead (unless of course it is empty) but is is not so sensitive that it will continue to leak lead on you when your moving around. I did have a problem finally loading up a new lead although a rather small one at that. I had to send it through the tip instead of the eraser section either because I am not smart enough to figure out how to get the eraser off or its just not made that way. I saw that people have had success going through the eraser part but I am not one of the lucky ones apparently.

HOW IT WORKS FOR BIBLE STUDY

For this websites purposes we want to know is it worth getting to mark in my favorite book or bible? My answer is yes! Not only does it not rip up pages it erases fine and if you get the .5mm version you are sure to be able to take notes in any margin and underline even the smallest of text without making a mess of the situation.

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.]

Quick recap:

Best Points – An auto-advance mechanism that is actually acceptable with a great “shaker mode”

Not So Good Points – I’m sure they could do better with the grip although I really like it and the lead refilling

Price Range – It’s cheap and really nice looking so what is not to like about that.

Would this pencil make it into the Top 5? – I would put it there as it’s presently my favorite but that can change right?

Would you use this to mark your bible or book?- Absolutely no worries here.

So if you are looking for an excellent mechanical pencil that is great for overall writing but specifically for marking in your bible when you are doing bible study or writing notes in any book, then the Bic Ai Mechanical Pencil is the one for you. Order the Bic Ai Mechanical Pencil.

Zebrite Double Ended Highlighters

Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

What does this text have to do with bible marking? Well not much but here we review the tools you have to make the decisions and it’s best to make them from praying about how to spend that hard earned money right? Here we are going to discuss the Zebrite Double Ended Highlighters set.

So you have been reading the reviews and product information here on Biblehighlighter.org and you may still be sitting on the fence as to whether or not you are going to actually be putting a colorful display of highlights, underlines, and symbols in your favorite bible so here is another review to dry your eyes out with joyful starring at your computer screen!

After visiting this the foolish galatians website I noticed he was really pumping up this bible highlighter so I thought I would do a little investigative journalism on the Zebrite double ended highlighters and to see if they are indeed suitable for bible marking.

As mentioned before here there are various methods on how to mark your bible you can check here… But one of the best ways to study your bible is the inductive bible study method. Anyway now that you have a general idea of how to mark your bible lets get to the tools.

Now the Zebrite has some mixed reviews here is one good and one bad one. I think we need to put it to the test. For ourselves and see what the real deal is. First the features are as follows:

Double-ended fine and medium tips (this will help with tight spaces with the fine tip)

Fluorescent Ink (interesting that a fluorescent doesn’t bleed through but it’s true with this one)

Smooth Flowing Ink (no shaky messes with this free flowing ink)

Bright read-through colors perfect for color-coding (feature says it all on this note)

Never needs sharpening, so it’s convenient to use anywhere (good point here no need for a pencil sharpener as it is a bible highlighter)

ok so the features are great but what about usability? Well as stated there is no bleed through even on your typical bible pages. The colors are nice and bright except if you read the one review it is possible that over time this will fade fast. One of the more interest notes is that the stains (from the black text) does not distort the color of these bible highlighters, which I cannot say is true for the regular run of the mill highlighters I am used to using. This is a recycled ink so for all of you “go-greeners” out there you will be excited about that, or as in the one review notice the limitations of such an ink with the early fading. This particular set has 5 colors in blue, yellow, green, purple, and orange. The nice thing about this is that you can have the ability to use your multiple colors for your favorite texts and studies!

Overall I think this is a pretty good quality bible highlighter set. I do not think personally that it’s better than say the Pentel 8-color Bible Marking Pencil or even the Pilot Frixion Erasable Gel Pens but to each his own. I provide the information you make the purchases!

So make a decision on what the best bible marking tool is for you. If you are interest in buying the Pentel Bible Marking Pencil Buy Here or if you prefer the Zebrite Double Ended Highlighters Buy Here, even better if you want to purchase the Frixion Erasable Gel Pens Buy Here.

God bless and Happy Study!

For bible marking I have been doing a lot of research combing through a lot of blogs and reviews and this by far is the biggest discovery I have had been put up on. I had Someone email me after I checked out her review and to say the least the additional research I did was mind blowing! Here is a brief video on these pens:

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] Pretty Crazy right? Imagine the possibilities of color coding what you want making a mistake and then just simply erasing it! But What about your bible this here was a notebook… Well again the verdict is pretty clear that with your gentle touch you should be completely fine on this note. The Pilot FriXion Ball Erasable Gel Ink Pen has a good look and concept, but isn’t right for everyone. So how in the world can you have a pen with ink and erase it with not eraser fragments? Here goes:

The new “thermo-sensitive gel ink formula” is easily erased with the rubber tail cap providing friction. So this ink is especially designed to erase or be removed if you will with friction! But here is the draw back if you can call it that. The gel ink doesn’t come out as easy as gel should, more like a regular ball point, your standard for pens these days, and seems light or faded when you lay it down. As Pilot advertises though, there does not seem to be any damage to paperwork at all when it’s erased, and because it’s a rubber tip instead of a standard eraser, it doesn’t seem to deplete at all. This means you don’t have to worry about what happens when the eraser is gone because it won’t be gone!

Well the real test like and car err pen is the handle right. This pen has a dimpled rubber grip for you guessed it gripping, and comes in standard black, blue and red inks in fine point (.7 mm) only although you can now get this in a 6 pack here featuring colors of Black, Blue, Red, Pink, Purple, and Orange. Buyer Beware: you should only use this pen for things like bible marking as anything legal or something to that effect can be altered easily. So for us bible students marking our bible has never been so easier in this department.

Now when it comes to bible marking or just bible study in general, marking key words is a fundamental component of inductive Bible study. One of the best things about this pen is the gel ink is almost like a color pencil; it has a flat finish instead of shiny like most gel inks. And it is erasable. This is its most outstanding quality. There is also minimal bleed through on the thin paper that most Bibles have; which is the most important thing you would be looking for on this review site. (Check here for another review.)

Ok so what’s the drawback right? Well here are a few, if you want to highlight the text you can’t because this is a pen and again as mentioned in another post you cannot highlight with a pen. The good news about this is that Pilot solves this problem by releasing the now Pilot Frixion Erasable Highlighter set in three different colors (Find it Here ), I have not tried those and cannot recommend them but Here is a review of them. Now here again is the problem you have to spend more money in order to all the things you want. Concept is great yes and indeed these are marvelous pens and I am sure the highlighters work fantastically but why spend more money when you can get all you want in one item right?

Enter the Pentel 8- Color Pencil for your bible marking needs. You get 8 colors in one bible marking pencil so no keeping track of separate bible marking pens here. It can be used as a highlighter or an under liner. What is extremely important here is the lines don’t bleed, smear, fade or transfer to the opposite page. Is it erasable? No, it’s not at least not the very good anyway the leads are super soft which means you can go nuts on highlighting to get the perfect amount of color instead of having to much color which is a great feature if you ask me.

So what is it going to be my friend are you going to get the erasable (a fine choice indeed) or the Pentel?

You can buy the Pilot Frixion Erasable Gel Pens here just click the link, you can buy the Pentel 8-Color Bible Marking Pencil here by clicking the link; if you get the pens don’t forget to buy the Pilot Frixion Erasable Highlighters here by clicking this link. Whatever your choice God bless and happy study!

It’s time for another review and this time its bible marking kits. In this review we will be looking at the GTL Bible Marketing kit, PIGMA Micron Inductive Bible Study Kit, and seeing how they stack up against the previous review champion The Pentel 8 color bible marking pencil.

First GTL Bible Marking Kit:

This bible marking kit comes with 5 pens four of which are colored in yellow, blue, green, and pink with the last one being black. It also comes with a plastic ruler for marking out straight lines and they’re all ball point gel ink pens. Don’t be afraid of losing them because they come in a carrying case unless of course you are like me and tend to lose them regardless at least you have peace of mind.

Now pens can’t really be used as highlighters without you running the risk of ruining the actual text and then of course with the potential with bleed through issues. Do not use them as highlighters! The four colors and the black should be sufficient enough for you to have a plethora of adventure whether you are doing topical bible studies or inductive bible studies.

With this particular bible marking kit there was no bleed through, but the pink could be seen slightly from the other side of the page which could become annoying depending on how you mark it out in your bible. The other colors were faint at best on the other page so that’s a good thing. The writing quality was incredibly smooth and very efficient. The only thing is that you have to be careful not to smudge the ink because disaster will take place.

PIGMA Micron Inductive Bible Study Kit:

This set of bible marking pens comes in the nicely packaged plastic just like the other ones but instead of five pens you are getting eight. The colors are black, red, blue, green, brown, purple, orange, and rose. Again the multiple colors are great for bible marking especially if you are doing the topical bible marking method or inductive bible marking. (For a great method on how to mark out your bible click here)

I want to strongly caution you again that these pens cannot be used as highlighters the heavy usage of any pen can cause unwanted bleed through while marking your bible. The ink in this particular set is archival ink which claims to be almost fade proof and will not destroy your paper over time. I will cover the different inks in another post just know that this is generally a good thing and actually a cheaper more organic way of producing the pens ink. The PIGMA Micron Inductive Bible Study Kit sports the size of 01 which means that it is very small and extremely great for underlining. A fellow bible marking affectionado said:

“The ink is acid-free, chemically stable, waterproof, and fade resistant making it perfect for long lasting projects and writings. For these reasons I decided to test the Pigma Micron on different thicknesses of Bible paper.”

One of the draw backs of these bible marking pens are that tendency to show through to the other side especially with the red. As one reviewer put it. “I wish there was no show-through, but it’s not to the point of confusing me about which page the mark is on.”

Now this set is not ball point and again is not a gel pen so it would be an assumption to say this bible marking kit might not right as smooth, but the tips on these are amazing and they write just as smooth. The ink does smudge a little so don’t be in a hurry but it definitely is not as bad as the gel ink pens.

So which bible marking kit is for you? You have heard both tales of the tape when it comes to bible marking kits and I would have to say that your safest bet is old reliable. That’s right the Pentel 8 Color Bible Marking Pencil. This continues to shine because you get just as many colors as the Pigma Micron Inductive Bible Marking Kit you can actually highlight the text because it acts as a fully functional bible highlighter and you can underline effectively as well because it is in fact a bible marking pencil. You don’t have to worry about collecting a bunch of pens and throwing them in your bag or hunting down your protective plastic. Again there is no bleed through with the Pentel bible marking pencil and you are really getting the best of both worlds.

Make your decision today, what will it be the ease of the Pentel or are you going with one of the pen sets? Whatever you choose may God bless you throughout your bible study experience. Buy the Pigma Micron Inductive Bible Marking Kit or Buy the Pentel 8 Color Bible Marking Pencil or you can get your hands on the GTL Bible Marking Kit

Bible Highlighters… Here we are going to mark out these fine bible marking pencils and see which one stacks up above the other. First the Staedtler Bible Highlighter set. If you have ever tried highlighting on your bible with your standard bible highlighter than it becomes obvious that you need a bible dry highlighter! Here
Read More →

Bible Highlighters… Here we are going to mark out these fine bible marking pencils and see which one stacks up above the other. First the Staedtler Bible Highlighter set. If you have ever tried highlighting on your bible with your standard bible highlighter than it becomes obvious that you need a bible dry highlighter! Here the Staedtler Bible Highlighter gives you exactly that. Coming in with 4 dry highlighters in yellow, green, pink, and blue it also comes with a pencil sharpener so that you stay on top of your bible marking game. One of the best things to happen with a bible dry highlighter is that you can continue to use your other underlining tools because this will not bleed them out or over them so it will flow real nicely for you.

One draw back listed at this review site was it made the pages very pastel looking as well as the yellow was very hard to see after the initial highlighting was done. As with most bible dry highlighters the bleed through is like nothing. But with your heavy colors such as the pink on this one you could faintly see it through the to the other page. The ease of use much like most marking pencils is a lot easier than the standard highlighters yet with this set you are left with having to sharpen the pencils (which again it comes with a sharpener), it also tends to snag the bible a bit causing wrinkles at times. Overall the best thing is that you can have your notes in color because they write about as good as they highlight!

The Pentel 8-Color Bible Marking Pencil is something to behold. This bible highlighter comes with 8 colors to beat the 4 color pencils you get with the other one. But who cares more pencils to keep track of and if you are anything like me I lose pens and pencils faster than you can say “it is written” so here is the good thing about this one. Yes that’s right one; it is one pencil with 8 colors of lead that you do not ever have to sharpen and stays at a pretty good consistency as far as highlighting and writing is concerned. The tones of these colors really nice in contrast to the writing on the page even if you have a red letter bible.

What is the biggest problem with bible highlighters, bible marking pens, and bible marking pencils? The bleed through right, and this one just as the others in the bible dry highlighter category is slim to none. Although the red is the most visible on the others side of the page this review site here states that it does not cause any confusion as to what page the mark was made on which is great news for us bible students! The overall ease of use is similar to that of the Staedtler set still bites at the page a bit to leave some wrinkles but overall the one stop shop use of this bible marking pen has got to hands done beat it out.

If you are serious in how you want your bible to look and how you want your study to flow it’s in my best opinion that you should pick up the Pentel 8-Color Bible Marking Pencil Today! Stay tuned for the next review and happy study. If you are looking for a more in-depth look at bible study as well please check out this great How to Study the Bible Blog.
